Her achievements when she was a teenager in America (which is known as Maureen O'Hara today) would have definitely put her into the category of child prodigies. A child of Irish heritage, and surrounded as her by talented parents, and her family did this naturally. Maureen was born in Ranelagh which was a suburb in Dublin - Ireland on the 17th of August 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons was a gifted contralto. The father of her, Charles FitzSimons, managed an enterprise in Dublin and was also the owner of the famous Irish soccer team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons was the second child of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed this wonderful family. Maureen did well in sports and loved rough games. Her talent for performing perfectly complemented her passion for sports. This is why she won the majority of the Feis Awards for acting and dramatic performances in her home country. When she was 14, she had been admitted into the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue operatic singing and classical theater.
